What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Last updated 9 September 2026
Ghar Jagga Sathi helps people in Nepal and abroad buy, sell and rent property. To do that we handle personal information — your contact details, what you are looking for, and sometimes ownership or identity documents.
This page explains, in plain language, what we do with that information.
1.Information we collect
We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry and run your account. Depending on how you use the site, that includes:
- Contact details you give us — name, phone number, email address and location — when you submit an enquiry, apply to become an agent, or register an account.
- Property requirements you tell us about, such as budget, preferred district and property type.
- Documents you upload to your dashboard, including ownership papers and identity documents where a transaction requires them.
- Technical data your browser sends automatically, such as IP address, device type and the pages you visit, used to keep the site secure and working.
2.How we use your information
- To respond to enquiries and connect you with the right agent or seller.
- To verify listings and the identity of parties in a transaction.
- To operate your account, saved properties and transaction records.
- To send service messages about an enquiry or transaction you started. We do not send marketing email unless you ask us to.
- To detect fraud, misuse and duplicate or misleading listings.
3.Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where it is necessary to deliver the service you asked for:
- The agent or seller handling the specific property you enquired about.
- Service providers who host our platform, store documents and deliver email or messaging on our behalf.
- Banks, lawyers or government offices, but only with your instruction as part of a transaction you are pursuing.
- Authorities where we are required to disclose information by Nepali law.
4.How long we keep it
Enquiry records are kept while we are working on your request and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can pick up where we left off. Account and transaction records, including uploaded documents, are kept for as long as your account is open and for any period required by law after it closes.
You can ask us to delete data we are not legally required to retain.
5.Your choices
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to delete your account and associated data.
- Withdraw consent for any optional communication at any time.
6.Security
Access to enquiry records and uploaded documents is restricted to staff and agents who need it for your transaction. Passwords are stored hashed, never in readable form. No online service can promise perfect security, so please avoid sending sensitive documents through unsecured channels such as social media messages.
7.Cookies
We use cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your currency preference and understand which pages are useful. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though signing in will stop working if you block them entirely.
8.Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date shown above. Significant changes affecting existing users will also be notified by email.
